“Our four wildlife parks offer a great day out for families, one filled with wonder and learning. However, Singapore’s outdoor heat and humidity can discourage our guests from extending their stay. We would like to address this heat issue in a sustainable, energy-efficient manner. We are thus excited to trial the eco-friendly and energy-smart Airbitat Smart Cooler at the Singapore Zoo today and we look forward to the eventual roll-out of the Airbitat across our four parks in the near future”, said Mr Mike Barclay, Group CEO of Mandai Park Holdings.
Airbitat is effective all-day and adapts intelligently to varying conditions throughout the day to deliver ultra-efficient cooling. Unlike conventional one-mode coolers, Airbitat’s intelligent system detects the ambient environment and engages the right cooling mode to deliver the right level of thermal comfort. Most importantly, the Airbitat Smart Cooler is engineered to be eco-friendly, with negligible waste heat generation when compared to conventional air conditioning, and energy-smart as well. Its innovative two-stage cooling technology results in energy savings of up to 80% when compared to the average air conditioner of an equivalent capacity. A typical 8-hour cooling cycle registers a combined energy and water cost as low as $2.50 a day.
Mr Gareth Tang, General Manager, Innosparks said, “Innosparks was excited to take on such a ‘cool’ challenge from one of Singapore’s top tourist attraction, the Singapore Zoo. The Airbitat Smart Cooler is a revolutionary cooling concept that is big on performance and friendly to the environment. The commercial and industrial uses for the Airbitat Smart Cooler are numerous and highly relevant in a hot and humid climate like Singapore.”
The innovation of Airbitat Smart Cooler took about 18 months from concept to production. It is built around a “cold water core” that allows it to continually produce chilled water to supercharge the cooling cycle. This reservoir of chilled water flows through an ultra-efficient heat exchange and high performance evaporative medium, emerging as cool air streams.
The trial period will allow Mandai Park Holdings and Innosparks to gather data and assess the performance of Airbitat under a variety of weather conditions, as well as the impact on guest experience.
