We build around existing trees, retaining as many of them as possible, and transplant valuable trees when retention is not an option.
To minimise energy and water use, we maximise natural lighting and ventilation, making use of tree shade to keep parks cool for visitors.
Innovative technology improves thermal comfort while minimising the use of energy-intensive cooling devices.
Our new parks are also designed with the vicinity’s native wild residents in mind. At Bird Paradise, you can find a green roof atop the sheltered linkway of the multi-storey carpark that helps boost biodiversity with verdant displays of butterfly-and-bee-attracting flowering plants (for pollinators and caterpillars).
Our forest corridors in Bird Paradise also encourage and facilitate the movement of birds and small animals between the Mandai precinct and the Central Catchment Nature Reserve.
With solar panels that power our LED lights, a unique system for collecting rainwater to water the plants, and a habitat that features a high-efficiency chilling system 30% more energy efficient than conventional ones, the Penguin Cove attained a BCA Green Mark (Platinum) certification for its design rooted in sustainable best practices.
