Embark on a 'Mammoth' Adventure Back in Time at Singapore Zoo

1 NOV 2019
The extinction of the dinosaurs paved the way for supersized cousins of modern mammals, birds and reptiles to rule the land. Discover prehistoric megafauna like the towering hornless rhinoceros and woolly mammoth, in an adventure of epic proportions in Singapore Zoo this school holiday season.

Over 15 prehistoric giants like the woolly mammoth will be brought back to animatronic life in Singapore Zoo this year-end season. Themed activities happen every weekend from 16 November – 29 December 2019

Pick up an educational trail sheet and follow mammoth calf, Momo, on a self-guided trail through the Valley of Giants in search of her mother. Meander through the vegetation and witness extinct megafauna come alive in the form of more than 15 animatronic replicas with lifelike movements and sounds. Watch the renowned sabre-toothed-cat stalk its prey, the megatherium which is a sloth the size of a bear. The lesser known glyptodon, a giant armored mammal and relative of the modern armadillo, can also be seen locked in battle with a short-faced bear. After meeting the prehistoric giants, visit their six modern cousins in Singapore Zoo’s living collection. Complete the activity stations and exclusive prizes are yours to redeem.

Get your cameras ready and come face-to-trunk with little Momo the mammoth calf, as well as a merry pair of cavemen, who will make special appearances throughout the day. Learn about the important ecological roles of modern-day giants at the Jumbo Games stations, and replicate the cave paintings of early humans using modern technology at the Colour-like-a-Caveman station. Here, participants can digitally paint their own prehistoric creature.

Get to know the woolly mammoths’ modern cousins, the Asian elephants, by signing up for the Gentle Giants Wildlife Tour. For starters, elephant keepers will personally acquaint you with the herd through a feeding session. Proceed to gain exclusive access behind-the-scenes where keepers demonstrate how they train the elephants for medical procedures and even give them a pedicure. This is the first time that members of the public will get an in-depth look into the inner workings of Singapore Zoo’s elephant herd and care team.

Immerse in the prehistoric theme and dress your child as a ‘CaveKid’ in a caveman-inspired outfit. First 100 CaveKids will enjoy free admission on 23 and 24 November in Singapore Zoo before 1.00pm. Local residents also enjoy 15% off Singapore Zoo admission for online ticket purchases.

Meet the hosts of Channel 5’s Make it Count in a special live session in Singapore Zoo on 14 December 2019. Arouse your curiosity in math and learn how its related to the giant animals of the past and present.
