Zoo day out for 700 guests

5 OCT 2019
Close to 700 beneficiaries from 20 social service organisations enjoyed a wild day out at Singapore Zoo this morning, as part of a Zoo Day Out initiative by Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS). Mr Tan Chuan-Jin, Deputy Chairman of Mandai Park Holdings and Speaker of Parliament graced the event as Guest-of-Honour.

Through the event, WRS hopes to build stronger relationships with social service organisations and ensure the parks under its care—Jurong Bird Park, Night Safari, River Safari and Singapore Zoo—  remain accessible to people from all walks of life.

During the outing, Mr Tan and guests had the opportunity to watch a special animal presentation and get up close and personal with some of the animals, such as the orangutans and a host of reptiles, as they learnt more about these species.

Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS) has worked with the National Council of Social Service (NCSS) over the last five years to offer complimentary admission to the beneficiaries of NCSS member organisations that provide social services. In the past two years alone, more than 14,000 beneficiaries have visited the four parks operated by Wildlife Reserves Singapore.

* Complimentary admission is extended to VWO groups serving persons with disabilities and elderly and beneficiaries of community hospitals. All holders of Developmental Disability Registry (DDR) identity card will also enjoy complimentary admission to all WRS parks when making individual visits.
