Nyungwe Forest Heart Of Africa is modelled after the forested valleys of continental Africa. On-site mature trees have been preserved during the construction of this aviary to create a densely forested home for over 80 species of amazing African birds.
Be charmed by the ‘Einstein of the Bird World’ — the brainy grey parrots and the turacos with 'mohawk' hairdo.

Where Giants Thrive
Nyungwe Forest Heart Of Africa is the largest of the eight aviaries in Bird Paradise. It is also the most forested, thanks to concerted efforts to preserve over 150 mature trees which were on the site before the construction.
Look out for the biggest tree—a weeping fig—in Mandai Wildlife West, and the critically endangered tree Marsh Ubah which is known to exist only in the forested areas of Mandai and Yio Chu Kang.
Animals
Great blue turaco
This shy bird not easily observed among the forest foliage except when small groups gather and call in chorus, sometimes for several minutes. The chorus begins with plaintive cries followed by a series of short kok-kok notes and dies down with deeper vibrating calls.
Red-crested turaco
The only family of birds that is entirely endemic to sub-Saharan Africa, the turacos are known for their punk ‘hairdos’. The feathers around their head do not have barbules, which gives a glossy appearance to their raised crest.
Superb starling
The superb starling (Lamprotornis superbus) is a member of the starling family of birds. It was formerly known as Spreo superbus.
